Grekthar waited patiently in his cell, perfectly calm. He had doubts that he would win this fight, but he was willing to give it everything he had and more. He growled, stepping forward and pressing his horn through the bars. His orbs stared out at the baking dirt of the arena. It wouldn't be much longer. He could tell from the increased cheering from the stands. An announcer's voice was speaking, but he couldn't make out what it was saying. Didn't matter. He didn't care anyway.

Suddenly his gate began to lift, and he stepped back quickly so his horn wouldn't get caught. Gritting his teeth, he duckd under the gate and stepped out into the bright sunlight. Electricity crackled along his body as he snapped his wings open, releasing a crowd-pleasing roar. That was all it was; show. But not it was down to business. He folded his wings in, spreading his stance as he watched his opponent's gate begin to rise.

Ignoring the arrogant female's actions, the male went for the direct attack. The moment she erupted from her pen, he sprang forward. He took two running bounds, then leapt into the air. Flaring his wings, his altitude was raised rapidly. Then suddenly he snapped them shut, heading straight down at her. Foreclaws extended, prepared to grapple her hide. Skull titled down, horn aimed to pierce her face. Simultaneously, his slightly opened maw released his electric breath weapon. If his physical attacks missed, his breath weapon was sure to hit.

The dragon gave a loud roar as her breath weapon hit him dead on. Crashing into the ground with his full weight, he thrashed wildly about, scratching and scraping at his hide. Ice had formed where the attack had hit, and worked its way under his scales to his vulnerable skin. As he scraped desperately at it, his scales began to peel off with the ice, exposing his bleeding chest. Pain filling his body from top to bottom, he lept to his feet, throwing his skull back and releasing another roar. Charging his breath weapon, he ducked his head back down at loosed it at her, wings flared out to the side as the thunderbolt snapped loudly.

Watching as the female avoided his breath weapon, Grekthar let out a displeased snarl. Having plenty of time while she was airborne, he lept forward, out of the line of attack. Then, turning, he loosed another bolt of lightning where she would hit the ground. Following this up with a frontal assault, he lunged at her, claws aimed for her wings. However, he tilted his skull just a mite too far back, exposing his bleeding and unprotected chest where the scales had been ripped off.
